Woo
"Woo stands for winning others over. You enjoy the challenge of meeting new people and getting them to like you. Strangers are rarely intimidating to you. On the contrary, strangers can be energizing. You are drawn to them. You want to learn their names, ask them questions, and find some area of common interest so that you can strike up a conversation and build rapport. Some people shy away from starting up conversations because they worry about running out of things to say. You don't. Not only are you rarely at a loss for words; you actually enjoy initiating with strangers because you derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection. Once that connection is made, you are quite happy to wrap it up and move on. There are new people to meet, new rooms to work, new crowds to mingle in. In your world there are no strangers, only friends you haven't met yet-lots of them."
I can see exactly why this is my number one strength, and it somewhat scares me. I do love meeting groups of new people, and these first few weeks in college has put my connecting ability to the test. I think because of my past experiences in high school, I’m going to be able to better handle this strength without having the feeling of being “spread thin”.
Adaptability
"You live in the moment. You don't see the future as a fixed destination. Instead, you see it as a place that you create out of the choices that you make right now. And so you discover your future one choice at a time. This doesn't mean that you don't have plans. You probably do. But this theme of Adaptability does enable you to respond willingly to the demands of the moment even if they pull you away from your plans. Unlike some, you don't resent sudden requests or unforeseen detours. You expect them. They are inevitable. Indeed, on some level you actually look forward to them. You are, at heart, a very flexible person who can stay productive when the demands of work are pulling you in many different directions at once."
Once I thought of myself as futuristic minded, yet I saw that I don't always live in the future, what I do is take things that happen in the present and see where they possibly can take me. I don’t often like to live a scheduled life and so that’s how I can deal with anything that comes in my day. Many corkscrews are still to come in life, I can't say I'll know what they are, but whatever they are, I'm sure I can take them on.
Communication
"You like to explain, to describe, to host, to speak in public, and to write. This is your Communication theme at work. Ideas are a dry beginning. Events are static. You feel a need to bring them to life, to energize them, to make them exciting and vivid. And so you turn events into stories and practice telling them. You take the dry idea and enliven it with images and examples and metaphors. You believe that most people have a very short attention span. They are bombarded by information, but very little of it survives. You want your information-whether an idea, an event, a product's features and benefits, a discovery, or a lesson-to survive. You want to divert their attention toward you and then capture it, lock it in. This is what drives your hunt for the perfect phrase. This is what draws you toward dramatic words and powerful word combinations. This is why people like to listen to you. Your word pictures pique their interest, sharpen their world, and inspire them to act."
Sometimes I ask myself, ” When does my mouth really close?” I talk a lot, and recently learned that I love to make speeches. Sometimes I still get those nerves about what I am going to say since I'm not always sure how it will be received yet still I love to speak to inspire and grab attention through talking. This is exactly why I plan on going into communications. I believe that I could hold a future in anything having to do with communicating.
Positivity
"You are generous with praise, quick to smile, and always on the lookout for the positive in the situation. Some call you lighthearted. Others just wish that their glass were as full as yours seems to be. But either way, people want to be around you. Their world looks better around you because your enthusiasm is contagious. Lacking your energy and optimism, some find their world drab with repetition or, worse, heavy with pressure. You seem to find a way to lighten their spirit. You inject drama into every project. You celebrate every achievement. You find ways to make everything more exciting and more vital. Some cynics may reject your energy, but you are rarely dragged down. Your Positivity won't allow it. Somehow you can't quite escape your conviction that it is good to be alive, that work can be fun, and that no matter what the setbacks, one must never lose one's sense of humor."
This strength is the strength that I actually wanted to be number one in. I just love the idea of positivity and I really strive to be shine in this strength. I remember every award in sports that I won had the description of how I came with a smile every day (nothing to do with athletic talent). Often times I love to use sense of humor to make tough things like a sports workout more fun. Sense of humor is huge in who I am as a person, I try to make fun out of any situation.
Developer
"You see the potential in others. Very often, in fact, potential is all you see. In your view no individual is fully formed. On the contrary, each individual is a work in progress, alive with possibilities. And you are drawn toward people for this very reason. When you interact with others, your goal is to help them experience success. You look for ways to challenge them. You devise interesting experiences that can stretch them and help them grow. And all the while you are on the lookout for the signs of growth-a new behavior learned or modified, a slight improvement in a skill, a glimpse of excellence or of "flow" where previously there were only halting steps. For you these small increments-invisible to some-are clear signs of potential being realized. These signs of growth in others are your fuel. They bring you strength and satisfaction. Over time many will seek you out for help and encouragement because on some level they know that your helpfulness is both genuine and fulfilling to you."
I feel this fifth strength is one that I am just starting to develop or possibly just starting to see. Along with my optimistic viewpoint, I am truly seeing people as potential in what God can/will do with them. I don’t know what more to say about this because honestly I can’t see it too much, or just don’t see any example in my life yet.

Stephen Potts totally has all of these qualities. I have had the privelage of getting to know him really well and he is such an amazing person! Stephen always knows how to make the most out of every situation and wherever Stephen is, laughter and smiles are there also. Stephen is also very open about his faith and is willing to be open about his relationship with God. He is one-of-a-kind and there is no doubt in my mind that many great things will come from him in the future.
These strengths are soooooo Stephen. He is an extremely friendly person, able to make any awkward time into a very funny situation, I can see that he does live in the moment especailly after all the time we spent together in high school. I do not know much about his public speaking except that he was good at it, he was in leadership and make speeches when he became homecomming king, and Stephen is for sure one of the most positive friendly, fun person I have ever been around.
yes, it describes you.
Optimistic people see the glass as half full, Stephen only sees Full glasses; even when i don't see any glass at all. I can definitly see a developer developing, and that's realy cool. Also Communication, when i heard that you were going to have communication classes in college, i was like "perfect". You have always been a mingler, and you aren't afraid to mix. God shows through you in these strengths, and will continue to use you as you grow in Him.
good luck bro.
sorry for runnon sentences?
OMG! YES! haha duh these are totally your qualities! Don't be discouraged by having the "woo" strength. It is a great strength to have. Just think about how that is going to help you so much as you journey on to becoming an ambassador and possibly and alpha leader! :)
As one of Stephens older brothers I have come to know him quite well. Possesing these strengths has made him who he is today. He is a vibrant and joyful person to be around. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in aid, or to those who just need a hug and laugh. Stephen loves everyone, hates no one, and greets those he has not met with an open hand. Stephen will put his strengths and weaknesses towards any goal. Good Luck Stephen
Stephen Potts. You are one of the greatest people that I have ever met. You have been one of my very best friends for 4 years, and there are so many reasons why. You always know how to make a bad situation seem not so bad. You've never been afraid to make friends and strike up a conversation. You always try and make everything better, even when I feel that it never can. I look up to you. I hope that one day I could be as positive, bold, and endearing as you are. I am so proud to be your friend. I also know that anything you do, you will do well. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
Roommate: Well I've only known you for a month but I would definitely say that all these strengths apply to you. You love working with people and you put an effort into getting to know them and understand them so you can help them if necessary. Your always in good spirits even in the hard and stressful times which is awesome, especially when I'm having a hard time with homework. ok see ya
Ugh, this week has been ridiculously busy, I had a midterm the day after my term paper was due. Anyways, I was able to read this a couple days ago; at first I was like: "Oh its just one of those silly generic personality type things", but once I was done I thought; "Oh my god, that describes Stephen nearly exactly." The copied (I presume) description don't totally seem relevant, but as I read through your own commentary they just reminded if the friend I've known for, what, eleven years at least. I'm trying to be a bit more godly lately, and I'm glad to see you're doing the same. Sorry I couldn't be on aim this week, I just have had a ton of schoolwork. Look forward to talking to you later.
Wow we have three strenths in common! thats pretty dang cool if you ask me.. no but really from what I have known of you so far these strengths are right on.. youre such an outgoing likable guy and I'm so happy we are in the same alpha group!
Stephen~
I am so excited that you have the woo strength as number one! You totally won me over! :) I can definitly see you living in the moment, seeing as you just jumped out of a plane last weekend, you are great at communication, you are always talking, and with so much energy at the same time. Everytime i see you you have smile on your face, which connects wth positivity. I dont really know about developer because i dont know you that well, but i can see that being in your strngths.
You woo you! this is mr. stephen potts in a box! just write woo on it and your done. Adaptability brings me back to our first alpha night where you were so entergetic and just adapted well to say it quite plainly. The other strength i see in you is definitely posititvity. You always have a smile on your face and it makes me happy to see you!
So I'm not even exaggerating when I say that I wish I had all of your strengths. I think you are pretty much the epitome of what a perfect people person is and it is so rad!
Ok, so yeah, woo is probably the most obvious of your strengths, but I feel like communication is a better representation of you in my mind. Even on our tea walk, I was just struck with the idea of you as a great communicator. You have this incredible ability to describe what you're thinking and to explain it in a way that makes complete sense. It's awesome and it's also a great tool to show how God is working in your life.
Developer is another one of your strengths that I am so excited about. I don't think you realize how much this is already showing in your life, but I could definitely see it in the way you talk about wanting to find Godly people to surround yourself with and in the way you give advice so freely. You have a desire to help people, even if you don't know them very well, and that is incredible to me.
Well. That is my novel. I have a feeling that God is already using you in huge ways and you don't even know it yet.
I'm thinking another iced tea walk needs to happen again soon, yeah?
:)
Steve, i freakin love ya man. Your a great guy and I love chillin with ya. As you can see u definitly have WOO lol cus there are 12 comments on this blog already! lucky 13 right here. I think developer should be higher on your list because your other strenghts all lead up into your potential to build up people who might seem to be a lost cause to others. Positivity! haha i dont think i've ever seen you bummed out or even have a frown on your face. Your all smiles buddy and I love that about you. Thats how ur gunna continue to woo people over your whole life, your just full of life and energy. its all great and im physced that your in my alpha group!
Stephen we're the same person, i'm not even gonna lie about that. Who cares if you don't have the "men" strengths...You are you and so amazing! And by that I mean that i'm amazing too since I did just say we're the same person. Anyway...Stephen, you're a blessing in my life. No joke.
ha, ha... Once again I dont know you that well but the woo woo one i think really determines and describes you. I remember seeing you before i actually met you trough my alpha group and u were hinging out with tonz of people like enjoying their presence and vice versa... Cool.
